Put on your best jeans, slap on a hat and some cowboy boots, and you're ready.  The popularity of this genre goes in cycles.  There was the Urban Cowboy craze, and later Garth Brooks.  Now, with Alan Jackson, the Dixie Chicks, and Toby Keith, country-western's in style again.  Mike Bendavid of Mike's Country Dancing teaches line dancing as well as partner (Texas two-step, country waltz, cowboy three-step, West Coast swing).  Standing before 20 or so students (from grandmas to college kids), thumbs hooked in his front pockets, Bendavid glides through the electric slide and the Tulsa shuffle.  People rave about his courses, which last eight weeks.  He can claim "seven marriages to my name" - that is, seven couples who have tied the knot after meeting in his classes.  Mike's Country Dancing: Van Nuys Sherman Oaks Senior Center, 5040 Van Nuys Blvd., Sherman Oaks, 818-905-6644.  Line Dancing: Monday at 7pm.  Partner Dancing: Monday at 8pm.  Single class is $10.  8 classes are $65.
